Группа была сформирована в 2007 году Алексом Эбертом, вокалистом группы Ima Robot. Незадолго до этого он расторг контракт с лейблом, расстался с девушкой, переехал из старого дома и вступил в общество анонимных алкоголиков. Около года музыкант провёл в уединении без телефона и Интернета. Позже Эберт познакомился в кафе с певицей Джейд Кастринос, и они решили сочинять музыку вместе. Помимо фронтмена Алекса Эберта и Джейд Кастринос в состав группы входят около десятка музыкантов.
Вообще, есть в Эдварде Шарпе и его Магнитных нулях некая избыточная расслабленность. То есть, они всю позитивность своей музыки как будто слишком уж близко к сердцу принимают — прямо видно по ним, что эти люди постоянно широко улыбаются и каждую секунду норовят пуститься в хоровод. Но когда они умудряются соединить это с такими мелодиями, как, например, в великолепной «Home», начинает казаться, что ничего больше на свете и не надо. На альбоме таких вещей — меньше половины; но не будем забывать, что альбом этот первый. Который занял 76-е место в хит-параде Billboard 200.
