В это же время Джейсон вместе с ещё одним участников группы Джастином Уивером начал писать песни. В 1998 году на сцене ночного клуба в Атланте Джейсон исполнил одну из своих песен, и сразу же был замечен Майклом Кноксом (в будущем ставшим его саунд-продюсером) из музыкального издательства Warner-Chappell. После подписания контракта с данным издательством Джесон переехал в Нэшвилл с надеждой заключить контракт с музыкальным лэйблом. Всего через месяц после переезда Певец заключил контракт, но из этого ничего не вышло и скоре он контракт был разорван. Подобное произошло ещё с двумя контрактами. После череды подобных неудач Джейсон взял с себя слово, что через 6 месяцев, если ничего не подвернется, он покинет столицу кантри и вернется домой в Джорджию. Но удача все-таки повернулась лицом к певцу и он заключил контракт с небольшим лэйблом Broken Bow Records.
Дебютник Джейсона вышел в 2005 году и содержал первый, и пока единственный хит #1 в карьере певца "Why". Сама же пластинка была записана под чутким руководством выходцев из MuzikMafia Большого Кенни и Джона Рича, 'ответственных' за взлет Гретчен Уилсон. Заглавный трек и первый сингл "Hicktown" как будто был записан для Big&Rich - громкий, резкий, 'рок встречает кантри'. Костяк же остального материала на удивление составляли баллады и медленные треки. Пластинка принесла Джейсону первые номинации на кантрийных наградах.
Со вторым альбома была та же история. Снова рок-кантрийный громкий первый сингл "Johny Cash" и снова баллады и медленные треки в костяке. Но на этот раз и синглы и сама пластинка снискали меньшую популярность, чем ранние работы.
7 апреля выходит третий студийник Джейсона под названием "Wide Open".
